Gary,
Just started to sort of get back into this game again. I can remember way back over 10 years ago when I started this game and came out to your club in Ashland just to shoot. Hope to see you this weekend at the Area 5, since it is just minutes from home for me. How are all the OLD guys doing anyway? May think this a silly question, but how is Don F. doing and is he still in the gun business? Sold the Para he built for me back then and am seriously looking to get bac kinto Open shooting. God I hate iron sights! Again, hope to see you tomorrow or saturday!
L8r,
Steve

Been away awhilea1-18.jefferson
I was killing some time checking out our new DSL service and thought I would try a search or two. Wonderfull web site! I am disapointed at the lack of clubs in Wisconsin though. Back in my day...

It has been close to 10 years since I competed. I have been thinking of dusting off the series 70 and seeing if I can still hit anything. I am looking to get classified and am willing to travel. How would I find a club or clubs that will be running a series of classifiers?

Thanks,

Gary im assuming your the area five head honcho, so here is my question. Hypothetically, if a ex-uspsa shooter whos been retired for many years comes back what happens to his classification that he had when he left does it remain or can he go thru the process again. I dont know much about the rules as a retired in 93 and havent shot since then. I have no idea what even happened to my old class A-13199 GM. Please reply in forum and I will review later, thanks. By the way to all who may be concerned i read some of the discussion about major nine, I was making major nine 12-15 years ago using several different combos, I have never had a gun blow although I have had 1 case head sep. In the 93 nationals I went 1546 fps using 9x21 and 115 grainers for a three rd. average. finished the match in God awful heat no problems. George Huening used to tell me God hates a coward, just keep adding powder, haha.

Well, yes and no. The entry form is available under the "Download" section of this page. The main link is on the USPSA web page under major matches. This gives the MD's contact information, and you always have the option of contacting Chris Twardy the N. Illinois SC.

Jon, I look forward to hearing from you anytime you have something to say. After all look how far we have traveled toward properly worded poll questions:)

You say you would not even ask the question. The reason I asked the question was quiet simple. I represent shooters in seven states. In order to do that I need to know what they think. Since I probably can't make personal contact with each and every one of them, I use this forum to ask questions. The questions are open ended and not intended to represent my views on anything. I may play "Devil's advocate" on occasion to further the conversation, but it is for that reason only.

I ran for this office to represent the members of Area 5 to the best of my ability. I've been called a "moron" on the 1911 forum for asking this question. So be it. I still need to know what my members think, so that I can make an informed decision.

Your views are always welcome. Hopefully they will offer positive solution to any perceived problems we may be having.

Gary, No more from me here unless it is completely positive. I would hate to see with all of your hard work put into this and end up with another memebers page. Good Day

Poll Questionip189117.dialup
Jon,

You are talking to paranoshoots who derived the name from shooting a Para and the fact that Gary Stevens makes me carry my own box of white pasters around at our club matches so I don't run out.

Ok, you didn't like the way the initial poll question was phrased. And you apparently don't accept the fact that Gary has acknowledged that you are correct that the 9 x 19 could make Open major before the recent rule change as long as the OAL was over 1.250".

How about YOU rewording the question for us so we can then get past the symantics to the real issue which is whether the 40 cal miniimum for major should be removed from Limited and Limited 10? Please keep in mind that there is only a very small box within which to ask the question so the number of words you can use is limited.

"Q: Now that Major 9 is allowed in open division, should the 40 caliber restriction be removed from Limited/L-10?"

Because the only thing that was changed was the OAL restriction in 9 open. I was not the one that made the comparison the poll question was.

To whom am I speaking with?

Jon, the OAL of the 9 x 19 has nothing to do with Gary Stevens' question of whether it should be scored major in Limited and Limited 10 as it is now in Open. Where did you get that idea?

To all, Sorry to sound like an A$$ but it seems since the restrictions of the OAL and the unsupported chambers was lifted people seem to be talking without stating the facts. I just don't understand what the OAL of 9 major has to do with L or L-10. Oh yea this is a great site. Thanks to whoever maintains it.

Jon,

Gary's Major Power Factor topic on Forums/Rules & Regulations is what precipitated the poll question. Why don't you take a look at the posts and add your opinion?

Poll Question139.55.52.183
Joh, you are absolutely correct. It is obvious that we should have included the word "unrestricted" in the poll question. My fault, I'm sorry, your right, I'm wrong. I will try to do better, as I am still learning this position. In the process of trying to get the new web page up and running, getting an Area Championship finalized, finding a new Section Coordinator for Ohio, establishing a group of Point Series Matches for Area 5, and attempting to sign up new members and clubs, I missed the word "unrestricted" in the poll question. Once again I extend my apology for slacking on the job. I am glad to see that you are apparently pretty well satisfied with the remainder of the USPSA operation in general and Area 5 in particular, as this seems to be your main complaint.

Have a great day.

The question relates to Limited and Limited 10. I do not think anyone is an idiot, although there are those who always try to prove me wrong.

About your poll question. Do you think we are idiots or do you not understand that 9x19 has always been allowed in open as major, yes it had restrictions but it was allowed. If you do understand that why would you present the question in the manner that it has not been legal. What is your motive behind this?
